Level II window can display either NASDAQ or Island Book. There are three displays within the Level II window:
- Bid/Ask Size display provides an indication of buying and selling pressure with size at each price
- Market Maker display shows Level II quotes from all market makers and ECNs
- Market Maker Action Log shows adjustments to Level II quotes by market makers and ECNs. Whenever a market maker increases/decreases bid/ask
and/or bid/ask size, a record appears in the Action Log. Actions
favorable to longs are colored green while actions favorable to shorts
are colored red. Market Maker Action Log consists of five fields:
Market Maker (MM), Bid x Ask size, Bid x Ask, Action, and Time. The
record will contain plus/minus sign next to the changed value. Action
field gives a textual description of the change.
Direct Access Trading allows you to double-click on a Market Maker on Bid/Ask list to have your order sent to that Market Maker. SWP API enables developers to capture Level II orders in their own applications.
